A critical reflection on the first twenty-five years of the Economics Network

Abstract

The Economics Network is an academic organisation devoted to improving the teaching and learning of economics in universities. This paper reviews the first twenty-five years of the Economic Network’s existence, reflecting on challenges faced and lessons learned in a period of substantial turmoil and change in the UK higher education sector. The paper highlights the importance of collaboration and networks, outlines how a departmental subscription funding model can work and provides an overview of the large sets of resources developed to date. Resources provide advice on how to teach and assess student performance effectively, subject content and the development of student skills.
