Primeira ocorrência de Lepidotes (Osteichthyes, Actinopterygii, Lepisosteiformes) na Formação São Sebastião, Berriasiano-Aptiano da Subbacia de Tucano Central, Bahia, Brasil

Abstract

Recent studies revealed the first occurrence of fossil fish in the São Sebastião Formation, Tucano Basin, Northeastern Brazil. The material consists of isolated bones and scales, as well as an articulated specimen preserved in fluvial sandstones. The fish remains have been identified as "Lepidotes" sp., "L". oliveirai and "L". spp. (Actinopterygii, Lepisosteiformes). The presence of both articulated and disarticulated specimens suggests that the fossiliferous association could be parautochthonous or probably a mix of autochthonous and allochthonous elements.
