Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate citizenship campaigns as means of strengthening civic engagement which relates to the public good and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a shared concern focuses on enhancing quality of life, societal well-being, and planetary sustainability. With the aim of bibliometric analysis in this studty also provide deeper insights into how to enhance civic engagement through citizenship campaigns in our complex modern society to achieve the SDGs. Theoretical Framework: The main concepts and theories regarding civic engagement and citizenship campaigns emphasize the importance of civic engagement as a key element in achieving the SDGs. Implementation can be supported through citizenship campaigns that motivate and persuade citizens to engage in collective action, increase awareness, and encourage to commit to and dedicate themselves to achieving the public good. Method: The research utilizes bibliometric analysis and covers articles obtained from the Scopus database, published from 2013 to 2024. Data collection employs Harzing's Publish or Perish application, and mapping is conducted using VOSviewer. Results and Discussion: The search was conducted for articles published between 2013 and 2024, resulting in 200 articles. Several terms frequently appear in research on citizenship campaigns, including citizenship fulfillment, civic engagement, citizenship issues, and media use. The study suggests that citizenship campaigns are closely related to fulfilling the characteristics of citizenship, engaging citizens, addressing citizenship issues whic related to SDGs, and utilizing media. Research Implications: The practical and theoretical implications of this research are discussed, providing insights into how the results can be applied or influence practices in the field of citizenship education and communications. These implications could encompass an in-depth study of trends and academic contributions related to strengthening civic engagement through citizenship campaigns aimed at achieving the SDGs. Originality/Value: This study effectively illustrates how citizenship campaigns can strengthen civic engagement and advance the SDGs. Civic engagement is closely linked to common issues related to the SDGs and this analysis also offers insights for future research in this field.
