Abstract

This paper further develops the theory of double-beam three-photon spectroscopy introduced in part I. A much simpler method than that described previously is proposed for the experimental characterization of the three-photon excited states, where measurement of two polarization ratios alone suffices for a complete analysis. A comprehensive classification of the excited state symmetries is provided for the common molecular point groups. © 1983 American Institute of Physics.
