Abstract

The growing interest generated by geological heritage highlights the need to evaluate its scientific production. For this reason, in this study a bibliographic review has been carried out on this topic. Specifically, the methodology used is based on an exhaustive search for keywords. For Spanish articles, the bibliographic databases used are from the Center for Human and Social Sciences of the CSIC and Dialnet and for the articles published in the international journals, the bibliographic databases used are Scopus, the Web of Science and Google Scholar. The results section offers a diachronic analysis of scientific production, the academic, scientific spatial origin, the specific topics covered and the journals that participate in the publication and dissemination of the knowledge and advances in heritage. The results are presented in a synthetic way, not only in the form of graphs and tables, but also through the use of cartography. A noteworthy conclusion is that the consolidation of research on geological heritage should be reinforced.
