Abstract

etanol 96 %, ekstrak buah delima sebesar 10 % kemudian diformulasikan pada sediaan pasta gigi dengan penambahan CMC Na sebesar F1 (1 %), F2 (1,5 %) dan F3 (2 %). Evaluasi yang dilakukan pada pasta gigi adalah organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, tinggi busa, dan stabilitas fisik. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian menunjukkan F2 dengan penambahan CMC Na sebesar 1,5 % merupakan formula terbaik dilihat dari sediaan memenuhi semua persyaratan pengujian karakteristik fisik. Pasta gigi yang dihasilkan memiliki tekstur kental, bau khas ekstrak buah delima merah, warna krem, homogen, nilai pH sebesar 7,98, viskositas sebesar 42.530 cps, dan tinggi busa sebesar 6,67 cm, dan stabil pada suhu 4 o C-40 o C. Streptococcus mutans is a bacterium that causes dental plaque. Red pomegranate is a plant that has antibacterial activity. One preparation that can be formulated for use on teeth is toothpaste. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different concentrations of CMC Na on the physical characteristics and physical stability of red pomegranate extract toothpaste. Red pomegranate was extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol, 10% pomegranate extract was then formulated in toothpaste preparations with the addition of CMC Na of F1 (1%), F2 (1.5%) and F3 (2%). Evaluations carried out on toothpaste were organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, foam height, and physical stability. Based on the test results, F2 with the addition of CMC Na of 1.5% was the best formula in terms of the preparation fulfilling all the physical characteristics testing requirements. The resulting toothpaste has a thick texture, characteristic odor of red pomegranate extract, creamy color, homogeneous, pH value of 7.98, viscosity of 42,530 cps, and foam height of 6.67 cm, and is stable at 4o C-40o C.
