Historia cultural de la psiquiatría en Córdoba, Argentina: Recepción y decadencia de la neurastenia, 1894-1936

Abstract

This research aims the historical reconstruction of the introduction of neurasthenia in Córdoba. At the same time, explores the large phenomenon of French psychological ideas dissemination. Both episodes are built on the hierarchy of medical figure throughout their new knowledge about mental diseases. It also explains the new emerging treatment techniques: hypnosis, suggestion and psychotherapy. This reconstruction hinge on a methodology that proposes a cultural history of psychiatry, that shows singular cultural aspects shaping the French ideas and practices receipt at Córdoba (1885-1920).
