Abstract

This article examines the drivers and trends that have increased the use of home networking, the technologies used, and the advantages of using a central network hub or customer gateway. It also looks at the need for supporting bandwidth- or priority-based quality of service (QoS) over the home network, and the need for remote management of the customer gateway and other devices in the home environment.
