Abstract
The faculty of displacements by flight of adult locusts permits to the acridian populations to move on large distances and to search for the habitats fitting well with their needs. In the present work, we studied morphological traits of several migratory and non migratory species belonging to two Acridae sub-families (Oedipodinae and Gomphocerinae). By the measures of different parts of adult body, we could compare the Moroccan locust "Dociostaurus maroccanus Thunb., 1815" to the other studied species. This morphometric study underlines the existing link between the displacement capacities of locusts and their morphological features. We noted clear morphological distinctions between the migratory locust Locusta migratoria and the non migratory grasshoppers. Dociostaurus maroccanus appears able to move important distances, but it cannot be a migratory species as Locusta migratoria
