Abstract

Parastomal hernia is a common and almost inevitable outcome after stoma formation. There are multiple approaches to parastomal hernia repair, with variation in technique, mesh choice, mesh location, and mesh fixation within an overall low-quality evidence base. Parastomal hernia repair is a complex operation that requires detailed planning. There may not be a one-size-fits-all approach to repair.
