Abstract

Proteolytic processing of epithelial Na+ channel (ENaC) subunits has an important role in the regulation of ENaC gating. This Commentary addresses the potential roles of specific proteases and protease inhibitors in the control of Na+ channel gating. © 2006 International Society of Nephrology.
