Malaysiawasrankedeighthoutofthetop20countriesintermsofmismanagedplasticwaste.Highconsumptionofsingle-useplasticbyconsumerswasthelargestsourceofthisissue.Itisnoticeablythatconsumers’behavioursplayasignificantroletoreducetheusageofsingle-useplastic.Hence,this research aims to identify the consumer behaviours of using single-use plastics in daily lifeamong the residents in Jelutong, to determine the factors that influence the behavioural intentionofsingle-useplasticsreductionamongtheresidentsinJelutongand,toidentifythemostsignificantfactor that influence the behavioural intention of single-use plastics reduction among the residentsin Jelutong. This research was carry out by using theTheory of Planned Behaviour(TPB). AQuantitativemethodwhichisusingonlinequestionnairewasemployedandthetotalsampleswere382 residents in Jelutong, Penang. Allof the data were analysed using descriptive analysis andregression analysisthrough Statistical Packages for the SocialSciences (SPSS) software. Theresultsshow apositiverelationshipbetweenthevariableofattitudeandsubjectivenorm.Meanwhile,attitudeisthemostsignificantfactorthatinfluencetheresidents’ behavioural intentionagainstlowerplasticconsumption.Thus,thefindingsofthisstudycouldprovideusefulinformationthat enable policymakers to implement effective strategies and address the plastic waste pollutiontoensurefutureenvironmentalsustainability.
