Abstract

Epitaxial thin films of La4BaCu5O13+δ (LBCO) and La4BaCu4NiO13+δ (LBCNO) were grown by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) on LaAlO3 and SrTiO3 substrates and their transport properties were studied in the a-b plane and along the c direction. The anisotropic transport property associated with this material is attributed to the weak localization of charges in the a-b plane due to short and long Cu-O bonds connected by nearly 180° and 90° and uniformly connected Cu-O-Cu chains by 180° along the c direction. YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO) grown on LBCO has shown a Tc of 88 K.
