Case report: A new mycobacterium ulcerans genotype causing buruli ulcer in cote d'ivoire

Abstract

Mycobacterium ulcerans, the opportunistic pathogen causing Buruli ulcer, is reported to affect rural populations in 36 tropical countries. We report one case of Buruli ulcer in a peri-urban area in Cote d'Ivoire, confirmed by whole genome sequencing which indicated a M. ulcerans genotype previously unreported in Cote d'Ivoire.
