América Central y la Guerra Fría, apuntes para una historia

Abstract

Este artículo ofrece un análisis historiográfico de naturaleza general sobreel impacto de la Guerra Fría en América Central. Para hacer esto, el trabajoproporcionará, en primer lugar, una reflexión sobre una posible definición,menos episódica y más latinoamericana, de la Guerra Fría en el hemisferiooccidental. Esta se basará sobre el análisis de dos fracturas, una externa yla otra interna, que la Guerra Fría produjo alterando los procesos de transformaciónhistórica de la región. Posteriormente, habiendo delimitado esemarco, pasará a cotejar y medir la relación de la subregión centroamericanacon los procesos y temporalidades latinoamericanas durante la Guerra Fría.  Palabras clave: Guerra Fría; América Central; América Latina; Guerrillas;DictadurasThis article offers an historiographical analysis on the impact of the Cold War in Central America. To that end, this work begins by outlining a characterizationof the Cold War in Latin America in way that is both less episodic and focused on a genuinely Latin American perspective. Our analysis will describe how the Cold War generated two fractures, one external and one domestic, which altered the region’s processes of historical transformation.  After having defined this framework, it will go on to analyze the connections  between the Central American region and the broader Cold War processes  affecting Latin America during that period.
