Abstract
Since the decade of the sixties, the health care institutions in Venezuelans have suffered a marked and continuous deterioration in their operation, especially regarding their infrastructure and equipment. This is due in part to the lack of an adequate technological management system applied to the health technologies. The objective of this work is to discuss the concept of technological management applied to the field of the health technologies, and later to describe the organizational structure proposed by the Simon Bolívar University for the installation of Clinical Engineering Departments in Venezuelan hospitals. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
