Abstract

A double blind trial on a selected group of 125 adult patients investigated the effect of atropine in premedication. The addition of atropine to premedication of pethidine and promethazine made no statistical difference in the incidence of secretory problems, cough laryngeal spasm, and vomiting during induction and recovery; arrhythmias during induction; or bradycardia during operation.
