Abstract
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century 3 are: 1. Immunizations. There were dramatic declines in vaccine-preventable diseases and smallpox was eradicated. 2. Motor vehicle safety. There are fewer deaths from motor vehicle crashes through changes in driver and passenger behavior and enhanced safety laws. 3. Workplace safety. Government agencies improved mining safety and similar industries through research, education, and regulatory activities.
