We report on a miniature solid state emitter structure, which allows electrical pumping of only one single InAs quantum dot (QD) grown in the Stranski-Krastanow mode. The emitter demonstrates a strongly monochromatic polarized emission of a single QD exciton. Correlation measurements of the emitted photons show a clear antibunching behavior. The structure is thus attractive for practical implementation as effective single photon source for quantum cryptography. © 2007 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
