El franquismo y el triunfo de la vivienda en propiedad: las periferias obreras de Barcelona (1939-1975)

Abstract

En la segunda mitad del siglo XX, son muchos los países en los que aumentan significativamente los porcentajes de propiedad de la vivienda propia, mientras la proporción de viviendas en alquiler disminuye. En este contexto comparado, la España franquista presenta dos singularidades fundamentales. La intensidad en el incremento de la vivienda en propiedad que alcanza los máximos entre los países occidentales. Pero resulta todavía más sorprendente el sesgo paradójico de este incremento. Son justamente las periferias obreras las vanguardias en este proceso. A partir de un estado de la cuestión comparado y la investigación sobre el caso de Barcelona, este artículo toma este hilo conductor para explorar algunas especificidades de las respuestas al problema de la vivienda durante el franquismo, y para subrayar la relevancia de esta auténtica mutación cultural en los movimientos vecinales de tanta incidencia en la etapa final de la dictadura e inicios de la democracia.In the second half of the twentieth century, in many countries the percentage of home ownership increased significantly, while the proportion of rental housing decreased. In this comparative context, Francoist Spain presents two fundamental singularities. The intensity of the increase in home ownership that reaches the highest among Western countries. But even more surprising is the paradoxical bias of this increase. The workers’ peripheries are precisely the vanguards in this process. Starting from a comparative state of the art and research on the case of Barcelona, this article takes this common thread to explore some specificities of the responses to the housing problem during the Franco regime, and to underline the relevance of this authentic cultural mutation in the neighborhood movements of such incidence in the final stage of the dictatorship and the beginning of democracy.
