Abstract

Some new developments of photochemical one-electron transfer reactions are described, and reaction mechanisms are discussed. Application of catalytic photoelectron transfer (photo-cleavage of sulfonamide) to the total synthesis of (-)-cannabisativine is also reported. In order to develop new synthetic methodology, conformational analysis of macrolide seco-acid is presented, and the design and application of seco-acids to the first total synthesis of lankanolide is also disclosed. © 2005 The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
