Abstract

The disastrous fire at London's Kings Cross Underground station on Nov. 18, 1987, has prompted metro operators worldwide to review their fire precautions and evacuation plans. The author cites protective measures now being adopted by older subway lines all over the world and protective features that have been incorporated into new lines.
