Abstract
The present study describes a game-based learning experience to perform an initial-diagnostic assessment in physical education and shows the students’ perceptions of the experience. A total of 291 students (14.02 years, 1.83) participated. An ad hoc questionnaire was used to assess the degree of satisfaction. The results showed a good level of satisfaction with the program. The most highly valued tasks were: games and sports, tracking games and cooperative games; and the least valued: physical condition, expressive activities and theoretical contents. Gender differences were found: girls rated better than boys gamified tasks, tracking games, expressive and cooperative activities; and boys, theoretical aspects, games and sports and physical condition. As a practical application, an observation instrument is provided for diagnostic analysis.
