Abstract

Studied the relationship between heterosocial skills and present or past close interpersonal experiences. Human Ss: 276 normal male and female Japanese adults (undergraduate students). Ss were asked to rate their current close interpersonal relationships and their most important disappointing relationship in the past. An inventory of basic social skills and an inventory of heterosocial skills were administered. Correlations between encoding and decoding skills and heterosocial skills in males vs females were assessed with multiple regression analysis.
