Abstract

Nine species of Alysicarpus occur in northern Australia (A. suffruticosus, A. bupleurifolius, A. brownii, A. ovalifolius, A. major, A. aurantiacus, A. vaginalis, A. muelleri and A. schomburgkii), three of them naturalized (A. bupleurifolius, A. ovalifolius and A. vaginalis). All species are described, and a key to their identification and notes on their geographical ranges and habitats are provided. A. aurantiacus, A. major and A. suffruticosus are described as new species.
