Abstract

In this paper, we present a method for the automatic generation of spline wavelets using the method of Cohen, Daubechies and Feauveau. Wavelets are needed with specific properties that depend on the desired application. Spline wavelets provide a smooth, regular and symmetric basis. Most of the wavelets have no closed form equation to represent them. They have to be represented as discrete values. This paper presents a brief overview of wavelets under multiresolution analysis settings. We outline a procedure to generate spline wavelets. An efficient cascade algorithm to generate spline wavelets is also presented. Finally, as an example we list coefficients of the cubic spline wavelets and plot their graphs.
