Abstract

A 2-D magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) model of an air arc is developed to describe the characteristics of fault arc in a closed container, which predicts the pressure rises at different locations as well as the temperature and pressure distributions without any experimental data supporting. It reveals that the MHD simulation model is a useful and reliable tool to evaluate the fault arc.
