Abstract
The Islamic education in a family in the perspective of democracy (The thinking study of Hasan Lanngulung and Abdurrahman an Nahlawi), this study on Islamic education in the family was done to get the formulation of Islamic education addressing the challenges of the future. The study of the two men thought was sharpened by the perspective of democracy to be more focus on getting Islamic education in a family. This study resulted a number of crucial points. Firstly, according to Hasan Langgulung, family is a social unit which became the first school in empowering the values and cultural inheritance of the society generations. According to an Nahlawi, families are a means to enforce Islamic law in which the compassion and love were enhanced to gain serenity and peace as a form of servitude to Allah SWT. Secondly, Islamic education in the family according to the both figures in the perspective of democracy should respect the rights and obligations of family members which is based on the principles of justice, equality, freedom, consensus and unity in the process of interaction in the family. Thirdly, the thought of the two figures have a common focus on Islamic education in the family, using the basic texts of the Qur'an, the hadith and the psychological and social approaches.
