Abstract

An important issue presented here is the existence of two different types of correlation between time rate of change of sea surface temperature and the ocean mixed-layer (OML) depth, depending on the ocean surface conditions. To investigate the impact of this new idea on the interannual tropical ocean-atmosphere interaction, an Air-Ocean Surface Heat Exchange Model, which is a coupled system consisting of the Wind-Induced Surface Heat Exchange Model (Yano and Emanuel) and the Ocean Mixed-Layer Model (Chu and Garwood) has been developed. -from Author
