Abstract

Two experiments were conducted to separate and determine lipid content of bovine serum lipoproteins. The first experiment established virtual absence of very low-density lipoproteins (1.005 < density <1.019) in serum of lactating dairy cows. Results of the second experiment indicated that chylomicrons (density < 1.005), low-density lipoproteins (1.005 < density < 1.063), and high-density lipoproteins (1.063 < density < 1.21) contained 2.0, 26.5, and 71.5% of total serum lipids. © 1973, American Dairy Science Association.
