Abstract

An increased risk of testicular germ cell tumors is well known in boys and men with Down syndrome. A possible increased risk of ovarian germ cell tumors remains debated. We report a stage 1 ovarian dysgerminoma successfully cured by surgery in a 13-yearold girl with Down syndrome. With six cases reported, Down syndrome is the most common genetic condition observed with ovarian dysgerminoma. In case of abdominal pain and abdominal tumor in a girl or a young woman with Down syndrome the possibility of an ovarian tumor must be kept in mind.
