Abstract
The Bioinf ormationãnd DNA Data Bãnk of Jãpan (DDBJ) Center ( https://www.ddbj.nig.ac.jp ) provides databaseãrchives that co v erã wide range of fields in life sciences. Asã founding member of the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration (INSDC), DDBJãcceptsãnd distributes nucleotide sequence dataãs wellãs their studyãnd sample informationãlong with the National Center for Biotechnology Information in the United Statesãnd the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI). Besides INSDC databases, the DDBJ Center provides databases for functional genomics (GEA: Genomic Expression Archive), metabolomics (MetaboBank)ãnd human geneticãnd phenotypic data (JGA: Japanese Genot ype-phenot ype Archiv e). T hese database sy stems ha v e been built on the National Institute of Genetics (NIG) supercomputer, which isãlso open for domestic life science researchers toãnalyze large-scale sequence data. This paper reports recent updates on theãrchival databasesãnd the services of the DDBJ Center, highlighting the newly redesigned MetãboBank. MetãboBank uses BioProjectãnd BioSample in its metãdatã description making it suitable for multi-omics large studies. Its collaboration with MetaboLightsãt EBI brings synergy in locatingãnd reusing public data.
