Abstract
This paper aims to show that Chilean Civil Code empowers the client to bring the service contract to an end at any time, and for any reason. So, unilateral termination, in this case, must not be considered a remedy for the breach of contract by the service provider. And should not be regarded as a breach of the client, even when the client will have to pay damages to the service provider. The article analyses the rules that recognizes that option to the client of a service contract, and deals in detail with the rule contained in the article 1999.2 of the Civil Code.
