Abstract

An introduction to the journal is presented in which the editor discusses various reports published within the issue including an article by Renna concerning cellular manufacturing system scheduling by multiagent architecture in real time, an article by Adbi and Labib concerning reconfigurable manufacturing systems utilizing a holonic architecture that can adapt to unpredictable changes, and an article by Nair and Vidal concerning the relationship between the topology of a supply network and the supply network's robustness in the presence of targeted attacks and random failures.
