Abstract
Purpose – This community service activity aims to improve the financial literacy of the community in Burai Village, Tanjung Batu District, Ogan Ilir Regency, especially in relation to investment. Financial literacy is a solution to minimize fraud in investment. Design/methodology/approach – The main activity model for community service is empowerment, which is implemented using scientific training methods, such as presentations, material delivery, and discussions. Findings – This Community Service activity provides education and understanding about investment. The results of the community service activity evaluation show that participants' level of literacy and understanding about investment and types of investment, including recognizing the characteristics of fraudulent investment as a whole, is 93.6%. Originality/value – Investment Education Activities for the Burai Village Community to Avoid Fraudulent Investments is one form of community financial literacy implemented as a community service activity. This investment education is expected to mitigate the community's vulnerability to fraudulent investments and other investment-related fraud.
