The analysis of the newfangled activities as a tool to enrich the teacher's pedagogical content knowledge

Abstract

In this paper we present a workshop experience carried out in Uruguay with two mathematics teacher educators for the secondary level. The purpose of the experience was to present the trainers a type of task called newfangled activities, to analyze them and to reflect on their potential for teaching and to research if these processes impact on the pedagogical content knowledge. We observed that the analysis of newfangled activities is a valuable tool to enrich the pedagogical content knowledge of teacher educators.
