Atherosclerosis, which is a main contributor to cardiovascular diseases is formed because of tobacco use. Nicotine is the main addictive substance of cigarette smoke. Its effect on Cardiovascular organs is well documented but when nicotine is taken in the form of patches it effect is very limited. For this reason, Nicotine Replacement Therapy is used for tobacco cessation.
