Abstract

A powerful analytical procedure for investigating the dynamic response of antisymmetric angle-ply laminated plates is developed. The solution is applicable to rectangular plates with two opposite edges simply supported and the remaining ones subjected to a combination of clamped, simply supported and free boundary conditions. The generalized modal approach in conjunction with the biorthogonality conditions of the principal modes with respect to the eigenfunctions of the original and adjoint equations are used to decouple the equations of motion. The numerical results obtained by using the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) are compared with those obtained by the classical theory (CPT) for various boundary conditions. © 1995 Academic Press.
