Abstract

Condensation of (S)-(-)-1,1'-bi-2-naphthol with BrCH2CO2H gave the optically active dicarboxylic acid I (R = OH), which was converted into the chloride I (R = Cl) (II). Condensation of II with the macrocyclic diamines III and IV gave the amides V (X = O) and VI (X = O), resp., which were reduced to the optically active macrocyclic amines V (X = 2H) and VI (X = 2H), resp. Complexes of V (X = 2H) and VI (X = 2H) with alkali metal ions were prepd. and studied. [on SciFinder(R)]
