Abstract
Neither actual involvement in political life nor full demographic share of women in Mali are correctly reflected by a rather low level of participation in public life. In a first part, this paper gives an historical account of women's position in national politics from 1960 till nowadays. A second part sketches a sociological portrait of female members of Parliament, 1997-2002.
