Abstract

Introduction: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) represents the main cause of morbidity and mortality in young people worldwide and its incidence has currently increased in older adults, constitutes a risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and is considered a problem public health. A review of the most recently published literature on the pathophysiology, classification, and current treatment of TBI was conducted.
