Abstract

Among victims of violence, those who have suffered sequestration may display not only pTSd symptoms, but also aftereffects linked to the dehumanising conditions of their captivity. Confinement, isolation and extended periods of privation are all the more devastating if they are accompanied by domination and manipulation strategies on the part of the persecutors. Techniques related to psychological torture and subjection cause psychological consequences which by far surpass the Stockholm syndrome.
