Efficient, mild and one pot synthesis of N,N'-bis(salicylidene)arylmethanediamines via three component reaction under solvent free conditions

Abstract

An economical and environmental friendly method has been developed for the synthesis of N,N'-bis(salicylidene)-arylmethanediamine derivatives. This procedure were carried out through one pot three component reaction of two different aromatic aldehydes and ammonium acetate salt in the presence of a base under free solvent conditions at room temperature. The Schiff base products were purely obtained in excellent yields and short reaction times.
