Abstract
“Zukan: Nihon-no-Mukade” is a photographic guide that contains the largest number of photographs of centipede species ever published in Japan. Unfortunately, this book contains more than 100 errors in its 160 pages. In this paper, we explain these errors, propose partial solutions, and warn of the lack of ethics and integrity in recent illustrated books published in Japan. We also discuss the need of the naming guidelines for a Japanese name of each taxon.
