Abstract

The notions of symptom and phenomenon have held a central place in the tradition of phenomenological psychopathology. This article discusses these notions in the thinking of Arthur Tatossian, as they contribute to the construction of a model of psychopathology and phenomenological clinical approach that give priority to experience. The subject's freedom is considered in a dialectic between autonomy and heteronomy. Modes of treatment based on Heidegger's notion of care are also developed. © 2009 Associação Universitária de Pesquisa em Psicopatologia Fundamental/University Association for Research in Fundamental Psychopathology.
