Abstract

'Approximate predictive likelihood'. Leonard (1982) applies Laplace's method for integrals to obtain approximations to posterior predictive density functions that are very close to the leading term of expression (6) of Davison (1986), from which they appear to differ by terms of order n-1, where n is sample size. The references to Davison (1986) should have included the note by Leonard, which was unfortunately overlooked. © 1990 Biometrika Trust.
