Abstract

The postembolic sequelae of pulmonary thromboembolism have been extensively reported. However, the immediate hemodynamic response to pulmonary thromboembolism in man has not been described. Nor has rapid resolution within hours of the pulmonary vascular response been reported. The following case illustrates the hemodynamic and pulmonary changes in a patient who was extensively monitored prior to and during an acute episode of pulmonary thromboembolism.
