This article discusses the therapeutic power of the written and oral communication, as well as the benefit of reading literary texts proposed by the narrative of Carmen Martín Gaite. If the author prioritized spoken communication in her first novels, with the passing of time, defended her narrative writing versus orality, making it the vehicle of choice for characters to communicate and ultimately for herself, to find the healing through the word.
