Abstract

Financial regulators have specific financial, social, and economic development goals for regulating mobile financial systems (MFS). We discuss the role of financial regulators, their approaches to regulating MFS, and the social and technical issues that financial regulation presents. We also suggest a research agenda for information systems (IS) that focuses on the socio-technical issues of MFS financial regulation. © 2014 by the Association for Information Systems.
