Abstract

Fault analysis is a prime apprehension in power system. This article elaborates an appropriate approach for detection of faults and wavelet technique is used for classification of faults in overhead lines. This method uses only measurements of post fault currents at single end of the line for fault analysis. To validate the efficacy of this method, simulations have been performed under various conditions of fault occurrence using MATLAB and the obtained outcomes are compared with fuzzy logic technique. The outcomes attained are promising and as well accuracy improved in classification.
